ECHL: Wheeling Nailers Re-Sign Missouri Native

The Wheeling Nailers have re-signed Jared Westcott, a native of Imperial, MO, for the 2024-25 ECHL season. Westcott becomes the seventh player to be signed to the Nailers for the upcoming season.

Westcott joined the Nailers late in the season, having completed his final year in College at Lake Superior State University. In six regular-season games, Westcott notched four goals and two assists, collecting a point-per-game in his professional hockey debut season. Westcott was added to the Nailers’ Kelly Cup Playoff roster and got a taste of what playoff hockey in the ECHL is like. Westcott played six games, tallying just one goal.

Road To Professional Hockey

Westcott has produced at every level he has played at. During his U16 year 2014-15, Westcott played 65 games with the Twin Bridges Lightning 16U AA team. He had an incredible season as he notched 47 goals and 45 assists for 92 points. The 2015-16 season saw him make his way to play U16 AAA with the St. Louis Selects in the North American Prospects Hockey League. He played 25 games, tallying eight goals and nine assists. He stuck with the St. Louis Selects for the 2016-17 season and played U18 AAA in the NAPHL. In 22 games, he notched six goals and 12 assists. He finished his youth hockey career with Carshield AAA 18U for the 2017-18 season. He played 18 games, scoring nine goals and nine assists, collecting a point-per-game. Westcott earned an opportunity in the North American Hockey League with the Lone Star Brahmas in the 2017-18 season. He played three games, notching an assist.

Wescott took his talents to the Sioux Falls Stampede in the United States Hockey League for the 2018-19 and 2019-20 seasons. In his second year with the club, Westcott was named an assistant captain. He played 98 games for the Stampede, notching 31 goals, 42 assists, and a +13 goal differential rating. With his six points (5g-1a) in 12 games during the Clark Cup Playoffs, Westcott helped the Stampede win the 2018-19 Clark Cup Championship.

After his youth and junior careers, Westcott committed to Penn State to play NCAA DI hockey. In his only year there, he played 17 games, notching one goal and five assists. He transferred to Lake Superior State University to finish off his college career. In three seasons there, Westcott played 74 games, notching 24 goals and 25 assists for 49 points. In his senior season, where he tallied 36 points (18g-18a) in 38 games, Westcott was named to the NCAA (CCHA) First All-Star Team and was an NCAA Hobey Baker Award Nominee.
