Dolphins RB De’Von Achane (ankle) active for Thursday night against Bills

Even though it won’t be at full speed, the Miami Dolphins backfield will still have plenty to do.

Running back De’Von Achane is eligible to play in the Dolphins’ AFC East game against the Buffalo Bills on Thursday night on Prime Video.

Achane was doubtful ahead of Thursday with an ankle injury, but he will be sidelined for the Dolphins along with Raheem Mostert (chest).

Even if Achane takes a chance, veteran Jeff Wilson will likely have a big role and rookie speedster Jaylen Wright, who was inactive in Week 1, will likely get a chance to contribute since the Dolphins are without Mostert.

In the Week 1 win over the Jacksonville Jaguars, the Fins as a team were limited to a paltry 81 rushing yards, with Wilson leading the way with 26 yards on five carries. Mostert was limited to nine yards on six carries and Achane was held in check for 24 yards on 10 carries.

Miami will look to rebuild its running game against the reigning AFC East champions, who allowed just 67 yards to running backs in last week’s win over the Arizona Cardinals.

Though he struggled to hit the next gear in the rushing game, Achane, who was sidelined for six games as a rookie with shoulder and knee injuries, was a boon to the passing game in Week 1, hauling in seven receptions for 76 yards against the Jags.

Achane is an absolute top rusher who averaged 7.8 yards per attempt as a rookie, en route to 800 yards and eight touchdowns. With his playmaking ability, Achane preserves the potential of the Dolphins’ offense, as well as the team’s passing game.

Mostert will not be there, but Achane will try for the Fins (1-0), who will start their AFC East game against the Bills (1-0) tonight at 8:15 p.m.
