Diddy’s desperate text to Cassie after hotel attack read out during bail appeal

The contents of the text messages Sean “Diddy” Combs sent to Cassie following his 2016 assault on the singer at a hotel were revealed during the music mogul’s most recent bail appeal hearing.

On Wednesday (Sept. 18), the messages were made public in a New York court, helping to deny his appeal for a second time. During the hearing, Assistant U.S. Attorney Emily Johnson read the texts aloud, following unearthed footage of the brutal attack that was revealed earlier this year.

According to Johnson, Diddy texted Cassie at the time: “Call me, the cops are here. I got six kids. Yo, please call, I’m surrounded. You’re leaving me all alone.” In response, the R&B singer reportedly wrote: “When you get fucked, you beat me up. I ain’t no rag doll. I’m somebody’s child.”

“The suspect knew he had done something that could provoke a response from law enforcement,” Johnson said.

The attack occurred on March 5, 2016, in the hallway of the now-closed InterContinental Hotel in Los Angeles. In Diddy’s defense, attorney Marc Agnifilo argued that the father of seven — including four daughters — was irritated by Cassie, who allegedly searched his phone and saw him communicating with other women.

Agnifilo alleged that while Diddy was asleep, Cassie threw the phone at his head, stole his clothes and stormed out of the hotel room. Prosecutors, however, alleged that a male sex worker was present and that Cassie tried to flee the room to escape another “freak off” party.

After initially denying assaulting the “Me & U” singer, the Bad Boy CEO reversed his stance after hotel surveillance footage surfaced. In a now-deleted Instagram video, he apologized for his “inexcusable” behavior.

“I was completely screwed. I mean, I was at rock bottom. My behavior in that video is inexcusable. I take full responsibility for my actions in that video,” he said at the time. “I was disgusted when I did it. I’m disgusted now. I sought professional help. I went to therapy, I went to rehab. I had to ask God for mercy and grace.”

“I’m so sorry. But I’m determined to be a better person every day,” he pleaded. “I’m not asking for forgiveness. I’m truly sorry.”

Diddy’s legal representatives have proposed a $50 million bail package that would deprive the 54-year-old of phone, internet, and female visitors. He also agreed to undergo drug testing. Despite his attempts to prove that he can await trial in the comfort of his own home, the judge has so far denied all of his bail requests, calling him a “danger to society.”

He is currently being held at the Metropolitan Detention Center in Brooklyn and is scheduled to appear in court again on October 9.
