Kansas City Chiefs wide receiver Rashee Rice could be ruled out for the remainder of the NFL season after suffering a knee injury during the Super Bowl champions’ 17-10 victory over the Los Angeles Chargers on Sunday.

Rice went down after his quarterback Patrick Mahomes threw an interception and then accidentally collided with the receiver while trying to make a tackle.

Rice, a second-year receiver, was taken away on a cart with head coach Andy Reid saying the injury was “not good.”

According to media reports, Rice had a suspected anterior cruciate ligament tear and was due to undergo a scan on Monday, but there were fears he could miss the rest of the season.

Rice has been the top target for Mahomes this season with a team-high 24 catches.

“We’ll see what happens with Rashee. Hopefully we can get him back at some point this season,” Mahomes said.

“But if not, other guys step up. That’s what football is about. I think we have a lot of good guys who can go out there and make plays,” he added.

The Chiefs have won all four games so far this season.
