Brutal winds heading into Big Sky Country

Happy October! Montana is currently in a storm track pattern to the north, with mild temperatures, strong winds, short cooling periods and little to no precipitation. The first half of October will be dry, warm and windy. A weak cold front will move south across the state on Wednesday. Highs will be slightly cooler, but still in the 60s and low 70s. Strong winds up to 20-25 mph are possible across most of the state. An area of high pressure will pass through on Thursday with mostly clear skies and light winds. Highs will be in the 50s and 60s before returning to below average for a bit, but it will be a beautiful fall day. The calm conditions and light winds won’t last long as a new front approaches late Friday. Highs will remain well into the 70s and low 80s with moderately strong winds across the state, but as the front crosses Montana Friday evening, winds will be very strong. Some of the wind will continue until Saturday, but the wind will gradually decrease during the afternoon. Highs will be cooler, back in the 50s and 60s, along with mostly clear skies. Sunday will be mostly sunny and a bit windy on the plains. Highs will be in the 60s and 70s. One thing missing from this forecast is precipitation. There doesn’t seem to be any significant rain or snow falling at the moment as the first half of October appears to be very dry.

Nice day,
