Braelon Allen: I dropped to the fourth round because I wasn’t running in my underwear

Jets rookie running back Braelon Allen had a strong performance on Thursday night, throwing 11 carries for 55 yards in a win over the Patriots. And he thinks he showed NFL teams should regret passing him up with the 134th overall pick in the draft.

In response to a question on social media about why he ended up in the fourth round of the 2024 NFL draft, Allen said it had to do with his decision not to run the 40-yard dash at either the Scouting Combine or Wisconsin’s Pro Day.

“Everyone wanted see me running in my underwear “To determine if I was a good football player,” Allen said.

At 6-foot-1 and 225 pounds, straight-line running isn’t necessarily Allen’s strong suit, and he was still recovering from an ankle injury in college that led him to opt out of testing in the 40s. That may have affected his draft value, but now that he’s in the league, it’s a distant memory.
