    Boxing News: Canelo Alvarez Furious After Win Over Edgar Berlanga

    Canelo Alvarez admitted he was angry with the tactics of Edgar Berlanga, who won their fight on Saturday night.

    The Mexican defended his WBC, WBA and WBO super middleweight world titles after the judges ruled in his favor.

    The match in Las Vegas was an exciting one, with Alvarez defeating his rival in the third round, but ultimately winning the fight.

    After his victory, the 34-year-old admitted he was furious with Berlanga’s tactics but was proud to have won their showdown at T-Mobile Arena.

    “It means a lot to fight on this day (Mexican Independence Weekend). It’s an honor to represent my country on this day.

    “We are warriors and we never give up. I’m going to rest and then I’m going to decide what’s going to happen next.”

    Alvarez then boasted that he was the best fighter in the world at that time.

    “I did well. What are they going to say now? They said I don’t fight young fighters,” he continued.

    “They always talk, but I’m the best fighter in the world.”

    While it was a big night for Alvarez, it was a disappointing night for Berlanga.

    The 27-year-old has now suffered the first defeat of his career – and Berlanga admitted he was ‘angry’ at his failure to reign supreme.

    “I’m disappointed because in the end I’m the winner,” he said.

    “I fought a legend tonight and did my best to represent Puerto Rico.

    “We are fighters and we try to take our opponents out of their game.

    “I took his best shot and I knew I could take his punches and hit them back. I could have thrown a lot more punches, but I was standing there with a legend.”

    However, the 34-year-old refused to address speculation that they could fight, simply saying ‘no comment’ when asked if he would face Crawford.

    On Berlanga and his failure to win by knockout, he said: “What are 12 rounds for? To show who is the best. That’s what I did.
