Are Kirk Cousins and the Falcons linked now? Okay then.

Good morning, winners! Welcome back to morning earnings. Thank you so much for joining us today. We appreciate you giving us a little of your time.

Folks, I don’t know these Atlanta Falcons. I don’t know this version of Kirk Cousins. They both behave very differently these days.

The Falcons I know? They are used to giving away leads and not coming back to take them. The Kirk Cousins I know absolutely screw up every time the lights get a little too bright.

And honestly, that almost happened on Thursday night. I thought it was a wrap when Cousins threw an interception with just under two minutes left in the game.

But the Buccaneers decided to outfox the Falcons with a wild holding penalty that kicked them out of field goal range, ruining their chances of slamming the door in Atlanta’s face.

Then the Falcons almost fell again. Cousins hit Drake London in the middle of the field without timeouts to put Youngoe Koo within field goal range and barely managed to spike the ball before time expired and Atlanta lost.

But then, whaddaya knows! A delay in the game call. A 47-yard field goal attempt turned into a 52-yarder. It didn’t matter. Koo made it. Overtime confirmed. KhaDarel Hodge runs away with it. That’s the game, folks.

I still can’t believe it. Another nail-biting victory for Cousins, who threw for four touchdowns and 509 yards in one game. Who does this man think he is? First Brady? We’re rewatching ‘You Like That’ Kirk. What’s going on in the world in Atlanta?

The Falcons are now 3-2 and sit atop the NFC South. Every game Atlanta has played has been decided by one score or less. Atlanta has had three fourth-quarter drives in the last four games that tied or won the game.

To be clear: I don’t believe in this. I don’t think Atlanta can keep this up. It’s the Falcons. Of course I don’t believe in this team. There are too many reasons not to.

But every step of the way this season, Atlanta has proven me wrong. The vibrations are vibrating. By the end of this season I might be eating crow.

Speaking of coupling

Pete Alonso! Pete Alonso, guys! The Mets!

That was actually my reaction when I watched the Brewers-Mets 9th inning last night. It was such an incredible moment.

Alonso hit a three-run series to right field, giving the Mets a 3-2 road lead in a spot that, honestly, felt pretty hopeless as the inning started. It was surreal. Alonso knew it was right as soon as he hit it.

One final touch

The Las Vegas Aces have one more chance. That’s it.

A’ja Wilson and the defending champions have their backs against the wall against the New York Liberty, trailing 2-0 in their semifinal against the team that Vegas defeated so handily in the WNBA Finals last season.

This year the story is very different. Sabrina Ionescu played terribly in the final last season, but it can be said that she has been the best player on the field this year.

Meanwhile, the Aces don’t seem to be able to defend well. They give the Liberty free access to the paint and are cut into by layups on the inside. The perimeter is leaking and the rear is late in turning. It has been quite a difficult development. The path becomes even more difficult as Vegas’ frontcourt rotation shortens. Kiah Stokes is officially out for Game 3 due to a concussion.

If the Aces play like they did in games 1 and 2, this series is over. It’s sink or swim tonight.

Let’s see how Vegas responds.

This has to be the GOAT Halloween house in the neighborhood. We love the creativity. Someone needs to get Victor Wembanyama to come trick-or-treating here.
