Alexa Minton’s Forecast | Tracking a New Round of Incoming Tropical Rain

LEXINGTON, Ky. (WKYT) – Clouds that form on Monday will transition into a rainy Tuesday overnight. Monday will start out calm and cool – with most temperatures in the 60s to start the morning hours. A healthy mix of sun and clouds as our skies remain dry throughout the day – temperatures will climb into the lower to mid 80s with a few areas reaching highs near 86 in the late afternoon. Clouds will rotate and build from parts of the east – with a few areas of eastern Kentucky beginning to see a chance of rain later tonight.

We are keeping our eyes on a tropical system that will develop into a tropical storm and move inland – in reverse from east to west and heading towards Kentucky. At this time, we continue to track the most rainfall affecting our easternmost counties – with the system spinning up rain bands just east of the state. You can expect consistent rainfall Tuesday through Wednesday as tropical heavy rain moves across our skies. Heavy rain should be a particular concern for eastern Kentucky. Keep your umbrella handy this week – even though not everyone will see showers!

Happy Monday! Enjoy the sun!
