Ravens honor Joe D’Alessandris and Jacoby Jones with helmet stickers

The Ravens lost two of their flock this offseason with the passing of Jacoby Jones and Joe D’Alessandris. To honor them, the Ravens will wear a helmet decal in the shape of a shield with “Joe D.” and “Jacoby 12.”

Harbaugh discussed what the helmet decals mean to the players, team and fans this season.

“Hopefully those Jacoby Jones and Joe D’Alessandris helmet tags will help remind us that it’s about the people. It’s about the people in your life that you share this time on earth with. Treat them well, cherish them, celebrate them, love them, and remember them.”

D’Alessandris died on August 25 after being hospitalized with an “acute illness.” Before he was admitted to the hospital, he was on the field every day doing what he loved most: coaching and mentoring offensive linemen and the guys under the pads.

Jones died on July 14 in his native New Orleans from hypertensive cardiovascular disease. He was only 40 years old.

“I loved Jacoby Jones. We all did,” Harbaugh said when Jones died. “His spirit, enthusiasm and love for people were powerful. He was a light. He was the cherished son of his loving mother, Ms. Emily.”
