Alabama Hockey Team Seeks to Raise $50,000 for Ambitious Season

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. (WIAT) — On Monday, the University of Alabama hockey team announced the launch of the “Frozen Fundraiser Campaign” to help raise vital support this season.

The team is preparing for the 2024-25 season, which will feature a 38-match schedule, 18 of which will be away games.

According to a team press release, operating expenses for the year will be in the neighborhood of $200,000. Because Alabama Hockey is a club sport, the team receives a small amount of funding from the university and relies heavily on player contributions.

That’s why Frozen Tide is campaigning to raise $50,000 before the season kicks off. Each donation will cover equipment, ice time, team uniforms, travel expenses and other necessities.

All donations are 501c3 tax deductible through Alabama Hockey Booster Club. For more information on the budget breakdown and how to donate, click here. Alabama Hockey’s season runs from August through March.
