A look inside ESPN’s documentary on volleyball in Nebraska

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – The wait is almost over for ESPN’s E:60 coverage of last year’s Nebraska volleyball team.

“No Place Like Nebraska” will premiere this afternoon at 4 p.m. ET on ESPN.

Co-director Jen Karson-Strauss knew volleyball was different in Nebraska even before 92,003 fans packed Memorial Stadium.

“We knew there was something different about this program,” Strauss said. “Over 90,000 fans don’t just show up on August 30, 2023, just like that. This has to have been decades of effort, a relationship with a dedicated fan base and a coach who’s been there for many, many years.”

The documentary takes an in-depth look at the highs and lows of the Huskers’ season and captures the essence of the Husker volleyball team.

“We came in really curious,” Strauss said. “We said to our bosses, ‘There’s a need and we need to be the ones telling this story.’”

Strauss became involved in the process and the long road to making this film turned the California native into a Husker fan.

“I’m a huge fan of them,” Strauss said. “As competitors, yes. But as people, even more so.”
