2024 Emmy Best Supporting Actress Limited Series: Jessica Gunning Wins

Jessica Gunning won the award for Best Supporting Actress in a Limited Series, Anthology or TV Film for her role in Baby reindeer at the 2024 Emmys.

“I honestly feel like I could wake up at any moment, this whole thing has been a dream,” she began her acceptance speech. “I’m so incredibly proud to be a part of Baby reindeer. So I just want to say a huge thank you to everyone who let me participate.”

Gunning also took a moment to praise the series’ creator and star, Richard Gadd.

“My deepest gratitude goes to Mr. Richard Gadd. I have tried so many times to express in words what working on Baby reindeer meant to me, and I fail every time. So I’m gonna sing,” she joked, before adding, “I’m gonna keep it simple and just say, thank you for trusting me to be your Martha. I will never, ever forget her, you, or this. So, thank you.”

She was up against Rijpley‘s Dakota Fanning, Under the bridgeLily Gladstone is Baby reindeer‘s Nava Mau, Chemistry lessonsIt’s Aja Naomi King, Feud: Capote vs. The Swans‘ Diane Lane and Real Detective: Nightland‘s Kali Reis.

It is the first victory for the popular Netflix series on Sunday.

The 2024 Emmys will be the second to be awarded this year. The 2023 Emmys have been postponed due to last year’s strikes by both writers and actors.

This year’s biggest night on TV includes Kristen Wiig, Viola Davis, Lily Gladstone, Selena Gomez, Steve Martin, Martin Short, Matt Bomer, Colin Farrell, Mindy Kaling, Jimmy Kimmel, Greta Lee, John Leguizamo, George Lopez, Ebon Moss-Bachrach and Jean Smart.

This year’s nominees were led by FX’s The Bear (with 23 nominations, a record for a comedy series), Hulu’s Only murders in the building (21), HBO/Max’s Real Detective: Nightland (19) and Netflix’s The Crown (18).

Netflix topped the list of nominees with 107 total nominations, followed by FX with 93, HBO with 91 and Apple TV+ with 72. Disney as a whole, including projects from FX, ABC, Hulu and Disney+, had a personal best of 183 Emmy nominations this year.

The 76th Annual Emmy Awards, hosted by father and son duo Eugene and Dan Levy, will air live from the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles from 5-8 p.m. PT/8-11 p.m. ET.
