Jeremy Allen White knows the best tuxedo is a relaxed one

Jeremy Allen White has mastered the art of looking really good without trying, or, as GQMurray Clark calls it “slacker hot.” It’s mixed tees and well-worn, straight-leg denim in an “I just put this on” kind of way (which is the best kind). And when he’s not acting or teaching us the art of menswear nonchalance, he’s fronting steamy underwear campaigns for Calvin Klein. But last night, at the second Emmy Awards of 2024 (2023 was postponed due to Hollywood’s writers’ strike), his red-carpet fit showed us once again that JAW can do it all.

He won the award for Best Actor in a Comedy Series for The Bearand he looked suitably dapper for the occasion in a custom-made Calvin Klein. Unlike his previous red carpet appearances, which saw him ditch the usual black-tie uniform for tank tops and knit polo shirts, he went all-in on tradition (but didn’t go all-out on accessories).

Up top, White’s jacket had satin wrap lapels, adhering to the dress code like a Hollywood pro. Then there was a relatively fuss-free bow tie. Below, his straight-leg tuxedo trousers completed the steez, falling over his patent Santoni Oxfords with just enough of a leg—a major win for those adhering to the black-tie rule.

It is not surprising to see The Bear star to rep Calvin Klein, given his role as ambassador, which has seen him strut his stuff in CK’s underwear while lounging around rooftop pools with giant German shepherds. He’s also flying the flag for the brand’s denim, which is totally befitting of his role as Bruce Springsteen in the upcoming biopic, and of course, his bespoke suits on the red carpet.

When you’re Jeremy Allen White and built like a Greek god, slutty menswear is expected. But as he proved last night, a traditional tuxedo is just as hot – especially when it’s chill.
