Who else than Argentinian legend Lionel Messi?

On a night when Inter Miami lifted their first-ever MLS Supporters Shield, it had to be Messi who emerged with two goals on the stroke of half-time to put the Herons ahead against a vaunted Columbus Crew side.

In a match lacking action in front of goal, Messi slipped a ball over the top before passing Patrick Schulte.

But the former Barcelona talisman wasn’t done there yet.

Five minutes later, Messi did what Messi does in dead-ball situations and sent a curling free kick past the Crew wall to double Miami’s lead.

They were the 842nd and 843rd goals of what has been a stellar career, with Messi now on 27 MLS goal contributions (17 goals and 10 assists) on the season in just 17 appearances for Tata Martino’s men.
