Stock market up and down after the New York Giants’ 29-20 win over the Seattle Seahawks

The New York Giants were a complete touchdown underdog against the Seattle Seahawks at Lumen Field on Sunday, but you would never have guessed that while watching the game.

Not only did the Giants pull off an impressive 29-20 victory over a 3-1 team, but they dominated in almost every facet of the game. It was by far their most impressive performance of the season and perhaps their most impressive performance since 2022.

With the win, the Giants improved their record to 2-3 on the season and the argument could be made that they should be 4-1 going into a Sunday night game against the Cincinnati Bengals.

Whose Stock Is Up and Who’s Down After Week 5’s Win? Let’s see.

Since Week 2, Daniel Jones has been among the NFL’s most efficient quarterbacks and Sunday’s performance was his personal best in two years. He completed 23 of 34 passes for 257 yards and two touchdowns, adding another 38 yards on the ground. But these stats don’t really reflect the level to which he elevated his play in the absence of rookie wide receiver Malik Nabers and running back Devin Singletary. DJ was in complete control and gave the offense everything he had to secure the win. One of the ongoing complaints is that Jones is not improving the level of play around him. He did just that against the Seahawks.

It’s starting to feel like we’re trying to get back at Eric Gray, but his bumbling issues are impossible to ignore. Additionally, he only managed four yards on four carries and appeared to lose the No. 2 job to rookie Tyrone Tracy Jr. in the process. Although he hauled in three passes for a productive 50 yards, Gray has become a liability.

It had been a rough patch for head coach Brian Daboll and, rightly so or not, his seat was starting to warm up. After Sunday’s victory, this has completely cooled for the time being and he has once again reminded the football world that he is a more than capable coach. The unprovoked praise for his players after the match is also a testament to his ability to keep the dressing room together despite treacherous water.

Wide receiver Wan’Dale Robinson hauled in six of his nine targets for 36 yards and a touchdown, but again there were some drop issues. The inconsistency is extremely frustrating because Robinson clearly has an important and defined role, but ultimately he will lose the trust of his head coach and quarterback. That’s especially true if his declines continue in third place, which was the case on Sunday.

As the pressure mounted after back-to-back ugly performances against Amari Cooper and CeeDee Lamb — something that led to a positional coach publicly calling him out — cornerback Deonte Banks responded in a big way on Sunday. He completely shut down the physical DK Metcalf, which may have been his toughest challenge yet. It was an impressive recovery for Banks and something that should boost his confidence going forward.

The Giants played so well on Sunday that we no longer had any “stock down” options. Meanwhile, so many players were performing at a high level – Dexter Lawrence, Isaiah Simmons and the entire offensive line to name a few – that it was impossible to settle on just one person for this final spot. Instead, we’ll go with the Giants organization as a whole. Their stock rose on Sunday as it was the team’s best win since their 2022 playoff victory over the Minnesota Vikings. Beating the Seahawks on the road as 7-point underdogs… Cut it any way you want, that’s impressive and was a huge win for a franchise that has had very little of it over the past decade.
