Las Vegas police investigate homicide near Hollywood Blvd and Sahara Ave

The Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department is investigating a homicide in the eastern Las Vegas Valley near Hollywood Blvd. and Sahara Avenue.

Around 4:22 p.m., officers responded to a shooting near the intersection of Grass Meadows Dr. and Fieldmouse Ave. near Lewis Family Park.

When police arrived, they began locating the area where the shooting occurred.

Police said they then found a vehicle parked on Grass Meadow Dr. and Tree Line Dr.

They saw a man lying on the ground outside the driver’s side door.

Police began rendering aid and paramedics arrived shortly after, officials said.

The man was taken to Sunrise Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Officers said while they were securing the scene, a citizen approached them regarding the shooting.

He told officers he saw two men dressed in dark clothing and balaclavas running past him from the area where the shooting occurred, police said.

The citizen told officers that the two men encountered an apartment in a complex across the street from the park.

Police say the man told them which apartment the two men encountered.

LVMPD secured the area surrounding the building and attempted to contact the residents of the apartment.

About 20 minutes later, after attempting to contact the residents, two men walked out of the apartment.

They were taken into custody without incident, officials said.

Detectives say they believed this was an illegal black market sale.

Detectives say there may have been a dispute or a robbery during the transaction that resulted in the victim being shot.

Police say they are fairly certain that the two men who ran into the apartment are the suspects in this murder.

According to LVMPD, there are no other special people at this time.

Police will investigate the matter in the coming hours.

According to LVMPD, they are awaiting a search warrant to search the vehicle and apartment.

Detectives are urging witnesses to contact the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department or Crimestoppers.
