Nevada courts hear misdemeanors, hold preliminary hearings, and rule on minor civil and eviction cases. Four judges on the Las Vegas Court of Appeal are before the voters.

In ward 4, five candidates are competing for an open seat. Four of them – Suzan Baucum, Holly Stoberski, Hilary Heap and Jessica Smith-Peterson – are well qualified. But two of the candidates, Ms. Baucum and Ms. Stoberski, have a slight lead in our opinion.

Ms. Baucum served on the court for 12 years before narrowly losing her re-election bid in 2022. Her experience would be an asset. Ms. Stoberski has been a lawyer for 25 years and served as a justice of the peace since 2011, so her transition to the court should be seamless. Both are resolute in their pursuit of transparency. Voters can’t be wrong about it Susan Baucum or Holly Stoberski.
