Mayfield, Cousins ​​donate $100,000 to Hurricane Helene relief

ATLANTA, Ga. – Ahead of Thursday night’s NFC South game between the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and Atlanta Falcons, Bucs quarterback Baker Mayfield, his wife Emily, Falcons quarterback Kirk Cousins ​​and Cousins’ wife Julie, teamed up to support Hurricane Relief efforts to support Helene.

Both families have pledged $50,000 toward a $100,000 donation to Team Rubicon, a veteran-led nonprofit that specializes in disaster relief.

Team Rubicon has deployed 240 volunteers to the hardest-hit areas in Florida, Georgia, Tennessee and the Carolinas. Team Rubicon has been carrying out road clearing, reconstruction and sawmill work to repair critical infrastructure. Rubicon teams are currently deployed to 35 communities for Hurricane Helene relief efforts.

Hurricane Helene made landfall in Florida as a powerful Category 4 hurricane with widespread flooding along Florida’s Gulf Coast.

Widespread property damage and flooding spread across Georgia and the Carolinas, with the hurricane’s greatest destruction occurring in western North Carolina. The death toll across states rose to 204 as of Thursday afternoon as rescue and recovery efforts are underway.

The Buccaneers also pledged $1 million through the Glazer Family Foundation to support Hurricane Helene relief efforts, and the Falcons pledged $2 million through the Arthur M. Blank Family Foundation.

Other NFL donations include $3 million from the Carolina Panthers through the David and Nicole Tepper Foundation and $1 million each from the Houston Texans and the NFL Foundation.
