Rev. Franklin Graham and Samaritan’s Purse are helping those suffering from Hurricane Helene

Rev. Franklin Graham, CEO of both Samaritan’s Purse and the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association, spent time with former President Donald Trump in Valdosta, Georgia, on Monday to provide relief and comfort to those affected by the devastation of Hurricane Helene.

Although the official death toll is more than 125 as of Monday afternoon, officials say hundreds more people could die Monday afternoon, Fox News reported.

Roads, bridges, homes and businesses have been destroyed, while many of the stranded people wait for supplies.

Samaritan’s Purse is responding in the states of Florida, Georgia, North Carolina and Tennessee, the organization shared with Fox News Digital on Monday.

“This building behind us represents hundreds of thousands of people who have lost homes, businesses, friends and loved ones,” Rev. Graham said in remarks Monday.

“It will take an army of volunteers and people to respond, and at Samaritan’s Purse we always want to respond in the name of Jesus. We want people to know that God loves them, that God cares for them.”

Samaritan’s Purse disaster response specialists arrived Friday afternoon to begin the assessments.

He added: “Sometimes when a storm like this comes, people think, ‘Maybe God is angry with us, maybe this is His judgment?’ No. God loves us. How do I know? Because the Bible tells us that God loves us and cares for us.”

Graham also said, as shared with Fox News Digital, “Yes, there are storms in life, but God will guide us through those storms as we place our faith and trust in His Son, Jesus Christ.”

Crews continue work to clear debris, restore power and deliver supplies to areas affected by the storm.

Two disaster response units — tractor-trailers packed with tools and equipment — also left Friday from North Carolina, where Samaritan’s Purse is headquartered, to serve as a base for volunteer teams, the group said.
