The San Francisco 49ers return home and will have added ammunition with George Kittle and Deebo Samuel active. The Niners haven’t had any trouble scoring, although the red zone offense could use some improvement.

The side of the ball that needs to improve and become more consistent is the defense. The prevailing thought was that the Niners would be a unit that bends but doesn’t break. It was too easy for the opponents, especially in the second half.

The Patriots are not explosive on the ground or in the air. They don’t look at pushing the ball down the field. And while they run the ball a lot, it’s not overly efficient. The loss of Javon Hargrave won’t go unnoticed, but this should be the kind of game where the 49ers defensive line takes control.

As for the Niners’ offense, Brock Purdy’s weapons and quarterback play should be more than enough to beat New England.
