CNN’s Kate Bolduan Calls Out Trump’s Flip Flops Against Ramaswamy

CNN presenter Kate Bolduan saved with Vivek Ramaswamy Wednesday about several former presidents Donald Trumps policy.

Ramaswamy, a former GOP presidential candidate and now a Trump deputy, visited CNN to point out the vice president Kamala Harris’s changing policies on issues like fracking and health insurance. But during the conversation, Bolduan interrupted Ramaswamy to fact-check him and point out that his own candidate has his own volatile issues:

Ramaswamy: (I)f we can use Kamala Harris’ own words against her, as I think we should, she ran for president on a tax on unrealized capital gains, on an end to — her words — private health insurance, a ban on fracking, bans on offshore drilling. These are the kinds of policies that are absolutely not mainstream for most Americans. And this is where I think the debate will be useful. I think a greater media coverage of Kamala Harris, hopefully with more interviews than we’ve had to date, will be useful. Say what you will, you may or may not agree with Donald Trump, he and JD Vance have had dozens of interviews, as have other members of the campaign and surrogate team. The reality is we haven’t seen the same from Kamala Harris. I expect that to change in the next few months, and I believe voters will be very well informed heading into November.

Bolduan: Vivek, but on banning private health insurance, she has said she doesn’t believe that, and she doesn’t believe that now. On banning fracking, she has made it clear, and she did that in the interview with Dana Bashthat she no longer supports that. As an evolving–

Ramaswamy: I want to respond to that with respect. I can’t just leave it there.

Bolduan: One second–

Ramaswamy: Kate, I can’t just let that lie, it’s policy, if I may.

Bolduan: I understand, but I’m going to ask the question, then you can answer it completely. She said very clearly that now, this is, these are not her positions. If evolving on an issue, if evolving on a position — you could even call it flip-flopping on an issue — if that’s not allowed now, if that should be the death knell for a campaign. Donald Trump has a problem with that.

Ramaswamy: Look, the reality is that Donald Trump has been clear about his policy positions. With Kamala Harris, I want to be specific about this.

Bolduan: About abortion?

Bolduan also cited Trump’s bluster about his vote on Florida’s six-week abortion ban, which he said he would vote against before saying he would vote for. Ramaswamy tried to explain that away by blaming the “vague wording” of the ballot measure’s language. He also made the false claim that Democrats want to allow abortions “up until birth” or even “execute” a baby after it’s born, which Bolduan tried to get him to admit was false. He again blamed the “vague wording” of the ballot measure’s language.
