    During the Chicago Sky’s game against the Minnesota Lynx on Sunday, rookie Angel Reese set the season record for rebounds.

    She arrived the game with 399 rebounds, five shy of Sylvia Fowles’ 2018 record of 404. Reese surpassed that record in the second quarter.

    She finished the game with 17 points, 19 rebounds and three assists in the 79-74 loss to Chicago.

    Fans celebrated Reese’s achievement on social media.

    Reese’s performance came with a full half to go, plus eight games before the regular season ends. She could extend the record much further and potentially hold on to it for a significant period of time.

    She is averaging 13.2 points, 12.9 rebounds and 1.8 assists in 31 games for the Sky in 2024. This came after a full college season at LSU, where she averaged 18.6 points, 13.4 rebounds and 2.3 assists in 43 games.

    Reese will now focus on adding to her record and helping Chicago reach the postseason. After the game against the Lynx, the Sky are 11-21 and hold the No. 8 seed.
