Hot and humid before more storms return – NBC Boston

It was foggy and humid early in the morning, as evidenced by the humidity and heat in the air on Tuesday.

As the fog lifts, temperatures will rise under a southerly wind Tuesday. Metrowest and inland temperatures will be in the 82 to 85 degrees. Boston and the South Shore will be in the upper 70s to near 80 degrees.

Tuesday will be full of sunshine and partly cloudy. The misty and sticky air will dominate Tuesday evening. It will remain quite warm, in the upper 60s to 70s tonight, before Wednesday opens the door for more rain.

The variety of this rain looks to be less of a flare-up than Monday’s storms. The chance for rain will first appear during the morning rush hour around 7 a.m. This is along a warm front that will push near-record heat from the west to the east. Highs will be closer to 90 degrees before peaking.

A cold front is producing a line of storms that will develop over the Mass Pike and will moderately intensify through the South Coast and Outer Cape. The overall movement is southward and given the rapid nature of things, the storm threat remains low, but not zero.

Most thunderstorms with smaller hailstones can be observed between 16:00 and 20:00. The dust will settle as the front moves forward. Behind it hangs attractive autumnal air that will remain on Thursday and Friday. On both days the maximum temperature will be around 21 degrees Celsius.

Keep a close eye on the First Alert Weather Team and forecasts through Labor Day weekend, as periods of rain and seasonal temperatures are expected.
