BMW Championship: Keegan Bradley takes victory by one stroke ahead of Adam Scott, Sam Burns and Ludvig Aberg

The FedEx Cup is a season-long points competition on the PGA Tour that culminates in a series of three non-cut playoff events in August.

The top 70 in the standings went on to compete in the St Jude Championship, with the top 50 qualifying for the BMW Championship, and that has now been whittled down to the top 30.

At next week’s Tour Championship, the final event of the PGA Tour season, players will start with a tiered score depending on their position in the top 30 as they compete for the title of FedEx Cup champion.

The eventual winner will receive $25 million (£18.9 million) from a $100 million (£75.7 million) bonus pool.

As leader, Scheffler will start at 10 under par, two strokes ahead of number two Xander Schauffele.

The world number one has never won the FedEx Cup, despite twice leading the lead in the run-up to the Tour Championship.

Hideki Matsuyama starts at seven under par, with Bradley at six under par and fifth-placed Aberg one stroke behind him.

Three-time champion Rory McIlroy, who qualified sixth, begins his four rounds at four under par, alongside Collin Morikawa, Wyndham Clark, Sam Burns and Patrick Cantlay.

Irishman Shane Lowry is one of five players to start with a score of -3, ahead of five other players including Scotland’s Robert MacIntyre and last year’s winner Viktor Hovland.

England’s Tommy Fleetwood starts the group at 1 under, while his compatriot Aaron Rai starts on par.
