Wolves 2-6 Chelsea: Noni Madueke’s hat-trick gives Enzo Maresca first Premier League win

Noni Madueke’s hat-trick gave Chelsea their first Premier League win of the season, beating Wolves in a thrilling and chaotic match.

Chelsea took the lead after 98 seconds when an inswinging corner from Cole Palmer was unintentionally headed on by Matheus Cunha and an unmarked Nicolas Jackson headed the ball in at the far post.

Jackson cheered the already jubilant Molineux crowd on with his victory, and Wolves recovered on the pitch.

Rayan Ait-Nouri’s flashy run set Cunha in motion and the energetic Brazilian equalised with a fine low strike from just outside the penalty area, appearing to provoke the Chelsea players.

Palmer then restored Chelsea’s lead with a deft lob from 30 yards after seeing Jose Sa in front of his goal.

Wolves equalised for the second time just before half-time when Jorgen Strand Larsen tapped in a free-kick from the edge of the penalty area.

But it was Madueke, England Under-21 striker, who scored a three-pointer in the 14th minute of the second half to decide the match.

The three goals were almost identical, as the winger scored with low shots from the side of the penalty area, both times assisted by Palmer.

Joao Felix provided the final details of the result as he fired the ball high into the net from the penalty spot with his left foot, having been picked out by fellow substitute and former Wolves winger Pedro Neto.
