WWE wrestling legend Sid Eudy has died at the age of 63, his family announced Monday.

“I am deeply saddened to share that my father, Sid Eudy, has passed away after a years-long battle with cancer,” the wrestler’s son, Gunnar Eudy, wrote on Facebook. “He was a man of strength, kindness and love, and his presence will be deeply missed. We appreciate your thoughts and prayers as we mourn this loss.”

No further details, including cause of death, have been released.

Sid Eudy was a two-time WWE Champion who wrestled under the names Sid Justice, Sid Vicious, and Sycho Sid. He made his debut as Sid Justice in the World Wrestling Federation (WWF), serving as a special guest referee at SummerSlam 1991. He faced Hulk Hogan and Ric Flair, and famously saved Randy Savage and Miss Elizabeth from an attack by Jake Roberts and The Undertaker at the couple’s wedding reception, according to the New York Post.

Sid, who stood 6’2″, was also known as “The Master and Ruler of the World.” He first made a name for himself in WCW, where he wrestled against stars such as The Steiner Brothers, The Road Warriors and The Four Horseman.

“One of the most credible big men EVER. Loved working with Sid and will miss him,” fellow wrestling superstar Sting wrote on X.

According to WWE, Sid transformed himself into “Sycho Sid” in the mid-’90s and formed an alliance with Shawn Michaels at WrestleMania XI. The two subsequently became rivals when Sid won the WWE Championship at Survivor Series in 1996; Sid later lost the title to Michaels, but ruled the ring a second time when he won the championship against Bret Hart on “Raw” in 1997.

“Saddened to hear of Sid Eudy’s passing,” Michaels tweeted. “An unforgettable presence, and it cannot be overstated how integral his role was in creating ‘The Heartbreak Kid.’ His work, legacy and influence will inspire our company for generations.”

Gunnar Eudy said details about the memorial service will be announced soon.

“Sid’s reputation as one of the strongest and most exciting Superstars cemented his legacy in WWE, and his influence continues to be seen in wrestling rings around the world,” WWE said. “WWE extends its condolences to Eudy’s family, friends and fans.”
