‘Wordle’ #1,184 Clues, Hints and Answer for Sunday September 15th Game

When New York-based software developer Josh Wardle first Wordle He probably had no idea he was about to launch a worldwide sensation. In fact, Wardle said he initially developed the word puzzle “just for me and my partner to enjoy.”

However, after it was released to the public in October 2021 Wordle quickly gained a passionate following in the English-speaking world. It was sold to The New York Times in January 2022 for an undisclosed low seven-figure sum.

In an interview with Newsweek Erhan Aslan, a senior lecturer in applied linguistics at the University of Reading in the UK, offered some advice for playing Wordle.

He said: “One thing I find important in this game is the choice of opening words. Starting with words that contain common vowels, for example e and a, consonants such as r and t, and sound sequences can be helpful. Choosing a word that starts with q, z, j or x, for example, may not be the best choice.

“As you get more feedback after a few guesses, users should draw on their phonics knowledge to narrow down or eliminate words they might be thinking of. For example, if the second letter of the target word is l (indicated in green) and the player thinks the word starts with a consonant, they should know that there are only a few consonant cluster possibilities (such as bl, cl, fl, gl, pl, sl).”
