Wisconsin Basketball Makes Final Selection for Dominant 4-Star State Native

The Wisconsin basketball program has achieved one of its top goals for 2025 after the forward announced his final six schools.

Amari Allen, a four-star forward in the 2025 class, is a Wisconsin native who relocated to Bradenton, Florida to play for the notable IMG Academy. The Wisconsin basketball staff had worked to maintain a close relationship with Allen during his time in the state, and has remained in consistent contact with the forward while he was in Florida. With Allen’s announcement regarding his list of schools, a return to Wisconsin is still very much a possibility for the recruit.

The Wisconsin basketball staff got some great news last night when four-star forward Amari Allen included Wisconsin in his final six schools. The 2025 forward grew up in Wisconsin, but made the trip to Florida to attend IMG Academy and finish his high school career. Wisconsin has kept a close line of communication since the move, and the Badgers are hopeful Allen will return home.

Allen announced via X (Formerly known as Twitter) that he has narrowed his list of schools to Alabama, Nevada, Mississippi State, UCF, Minnesota and Wisconsin. The Wisconsin basketball staff still has plenty of competition ahead of it to get a commitment from the prized recruit.

In narrowing down his list, Allen has chosen an interesting group of schools, but a tough one to recruit against. Conference rival Minnesota Golden Gophers have seven transfers and two commits, including four-star guard Isaac Asuma. Minnesota has yet to land any commitments in the 2025 class, but the most notable thing is that it’s still in play for Allen.

Alabama is another team on Allen’s list and is by far the biggest recruiting threat. The Crimson Tide has the second-best 2024 recruiting class, featuring 16th-ranked recruit Derrion Reid and three other four-star commits. The Tide is also one of the busiest teams in the transfer portal, having signed 10 commits through the portal in three years, including guard Mark Sears and forward Grant Nelson.

While Alabama is a basketball recruiting power, UCF is another team that the Wisconsin staff has to compete with heavily. The UCF Knights have kept in close contact with Allen since he moved to Florida to continue his basketball career at the next level. It’s only a three-hour commute from Bradenton to Orlando, and it has recently become a possibility that Allen will remain in Florida.

Can the Wisconsin Basketball staff get a commitment from Allen?

There’s no doubt that getting a commitment from Allen would be tough considering the schools he’s interested in. However, there’s also a chance that Allen could return to his home state after taking some time away during his high school career. Allen has maintained a consistent line of contact with the Wisconsin basketball staff since his move and still has a lot of interest in the program.

Along with his announcement, Allen also revealed the visits he has already scheduled for each program. The forward will be in Madison from September 13-15 to visit with the staff and experience the campus. This visit could be crucial for the Badgers, as it will likely be the last time he will be on campus before committing.

The Wisconsin basketball coaching staff will really have to impress Allen during his visit to make it clear to him why he should come back home.
