Who are Christopher Reeve’s children?

When I was a kid, I thought my dad was Superman, but can you imagine bragging that yours actually was? This was the case for Superman children of star Christopher Reeve. Before his untimely death on October 10, 2004, he had three children. He had his first two children, Matthew Reeve and Alexandra Reeve Givens with his former partner Gae Exton. In 1992, he married Dana Reeve and they had their son, William “Will” Reeve, that same year. As this year marks the 20th anniversary of his death and the premiere of the documentary Super/Man: The Christopher Reeve Storyto find out what his children are doing now.

Matthew is Reeve’s first child. Reeve was filming Somewhere in time with Jane Seymour and she once revealed that they were secretly dating at the time. Things came to a halt when Exton Reeve called to tell him she was pregnant with their child. They stayed together for a while and also had their daughter, Alexandra. These days, Matthew has followed in his father’s footsteps to pursue a career in the film industry. He attended Brown University and has focused on writing, directing, and producing. He was nominated for an Emmy Award for his voice-over in the film Christopher Reeve: Hope in Motionwhich he also produced and directed.

Along with his siblings, he serves on the board of directors of the Christopher & Dana Reeve Foundation and is dedicated to finding a cure for spinal cord injuries similar to the one his father suffered.

Alexandra Reeve Given (40)

Alexandra attended Yale University and received her law degree from Columbia University. She now works in politics and law and is currently the president and CEO of the Center for Democracy & Technology. She previously served as the chief legal officer for technology and consumer protection for the U.S. Senate. When she is not working or working at her family foundation, she focuses on her family. She has a son, Christopher Russel Reeve Givens, with her husband Garren Givens. She confirmed that he is named after her father.

As the youngest brother, Will was only 12 years old when his father passed away. Tragedy struck again when his mother Dana passed away from lung cancer a few years later in 2006. He moved to a family friend’s house to finish school in the same neighborhood and later attended Middlebury College.

Will became a broadcast journalist and currently works as an ABC News correspondent. He will make a cameo in the new Superman film due out in 2025.
