Where Are They Now? A look at some of the key players in Aaron Hernandez’s legal saga ahead of the hot new FX series

Jenkins Hernandez, played on the show by Jaylen Barron, is the mother of Hernandez’s daughter and was his long-term fiancée at the time of his death. The couple was living with their baby daughter in North Attleborough when Hernandez was arrested in 2013.

Jenkins Hernandez currently works as a licensed insurance broker and event planner, according to her Instagram profile.

She was living in Rhode Island in January 2023 when the Globe reported that she was involved in a dispute with an attorney overseeing a trust set up for her daughter. The trustee is currently listed as a co-owner, along with an LLC, of a Johnston, RI property valued at $502,400.

DJ Hernandez

Hernandez’s older brother, Dennis “DJ” Hernandez, has had his own brushes with the law and also played a key role in “Gladiator,” the Globe’s investigative podcast about his brother’s denouement.

DJ Hernandez, played by Ean Castellanos on the show, was federally charged in July 2023 with menacing and stalking for allegedly threatening to shoot up the University of Connecticut and kill three people in another state. In October, he was ordered to undergo a competency evaluation. Records show that earlier this month, he waived his right to a speedy arraignment and preliminary hearing from the Wyatt Detention Facility in Central Falls, R.I., where he is being held. The case is still pending, and a trial date has not yet been set.

In 2018, DJ Hernandez published a memoir titled, “The Truth About Aaron: My Journey to Understanding My Brother.” DJ Hernandez, three years Aaron’s senior, described how his life was turned upside down by his brother’s death, writing, “I was guilty by association — guilty of being his brother.”

Terri Hernandez

Terri Hernandez, played by Tammy Blanchard on the series, is the mother of the Hernandez siblings.

Documents show she still lives in Connecticut and that the Bristol, Connecticut, home where she and her late husband Dennis raised their sons sold for $164,000 in 2020.

Urban Meyer

Meyer, played by Tony Yazbeck on the series, was Aaron Hernandez’s coach at the University of Florida.

Meyer went on to work as an ESPN commentator, head football coach at Ohio State and head coach of the NFL’s Jacksonville Jaguars. He is currently an analyst on “Big Noon Kickoff,” a college football program on Fox Sports. He also co-hosts a lively podcast called “The Triple Option.”

Tim Tebow

Tebow, played by Patrick Schwarzenegger in the series, was a teammate of Aaron Hernandez at the University of Florida.

Tebow, a star quarterback at Florida and an ardent evangelist, later played in the NFL and spent a stint in professional baseball with the New York Mets organization.

He has also worked as a college football analyst, published three books and is currently the chairman of the Tim Tebow Foundation, a nonprofit organization that fights child exploitation and human trafficking and provides medical care to vulnerable people around the world, according to the foundation’s website.

Brian Murphy

Murphy, played by Thomas Sadoski in the television series, was Aaron Hernandez’s sports agent and remained extremely loyal to him after his arrest.

The Harvard Law School graduate and Medfield native will remain CEO of Athletes First, his agency for NFL players. The company has represented more than 100 Pro Bowlers and eight Super Bowl MVPs, according to its website.

Bill Belichick

Belichick, played on the series by Norbert Leo Butz, is the legendary former head coach of the Patriots who won six Super Bowl titles with the franchise before parting ways with the team in January.

He coached Hernandez during his time with the Patriots.

Since leaving the sidelines, the revered coach has maintained a high media profile, signing on as a weekly guest on the “Monday Night Football ManningCast” with Peyton and Eli Manning, and providing commentary on the CW Network’s “Inside the NFL,” along with weekly analysis for YouTube’s “Underdog Fantasy.” He also has a co-hosting gig on the “Let’s Go!” podcast with Jim Gray on Sirius XMR.
