    The leading contenders for the US presidential seat have chosen their running mates and Americans will soon hear them compete against each other in a vice presidential candidate debate.

    It will be the first time that Vice President and Democratic candidate Kamala Harris’ running mate Tim Walz and former President and Republican candidate Donald Trump’s running mate J.D. Vance will face off, and it could also be the last time the two debate before the election.

    When is the 2024 Vice Presidential Debate?

    The vice presidential debate is scheduled as Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz and Ohio Sen. JD Vance prepare to take the stage Oct 1 after both accepted an invitation from CBS News.

    The network has not yet announced an air time.

    Who will moderate the vice presidential debate?

    “CBS Evening News” anchor and managing editor Norah O’Donnell and CBS News chief foreign correspondent Margaret Brennan will host the program.

    Key dates for the 2024 presidential election

    Voters in the U.S. will head to the polls starting next month when Pennsylvania begins early voting on September 16. The official Election Day is Tuesday, November 5.
