    National Boyfriend Day is almost here. From golfing to a trip to the botanical gardens, it’s easy to celebrate.

    When is National Boyfriend Day?

    National Boyfriend Day falls on October 3 every year, according to the National Day Calendar. This year it falls on Thursday.

    “Just like special days for family members, this day pays attention to the friends in our lives,” says the National Day Calendar website.

    Anyone can establish a national day, such as National Boyfriend Day, but federal and state laws establish public holidays. Most national days are unofficial and created by individuals or organizations.

    How can I celebrate National Boyfriend Day in Des Moines?

    Book a tee time at the AH Blank Golf Course, which features 18 holes and mini golf, or schedule a visit to Iowa’s first Topgolf location, which opened earlier this year.

    You can also take your friend to Smash Park in West Des Moines, which features food, drinks, pickleball, ax throwing and other games.

    Your friend might also appreciate a stroll through the Greater Des Moines Botanical Garden, followed by a bite to eat at a new restaurant in town.

    National Girlfriend Day is celebrated on August 1. This year it fell on a Thursday.
