For the first time ever on The VoiceThe Blind Audition stage comes with a rule tweak known as the Coach Replay button, which allows a Coach to snag a performer even after initially did not turn their chair around.

What is the Coach Replay rule change? The Voice?

As host Carson Daly explained to the coaches during the Season 26 premiere, “When the audition is over, you have a second chance to go back and get that artist by pushing your button.” Here’s how that will work in practice:

• An artist does a Blind Audition, but a coach does not activate his role.
• All chairs turn to meet the Artist. The Artist shares a bit of their story. If a Coach who didn’t originally turn feels pressured by the Artist after meeting them, they can use the Coach Replay button to try to get them.
• Coaches have only one Replay button during Blinds.
• Unless there are any surprises planned for later this season, it appears that the Coach Replay button will only be available during Blind Auditions and not in later stages of the competition.

“Use it carefully!” Daly warned the coaches, though there’s probably no need to shower Snoop Dogg with advice since he’s already mastered the whole replay formula. “I’m a real coach in real life, so I like to replay and see what I did right or wrong,” the rapper said. “So the replay makes a lot of sense!”

So, who will win this season? Will Snoop Dogg and fellow freshman Michael Bublé have some rookie luck? Or will returning coaches Gwen Stefani and Reba McEntire show the boys how it’s done?

The two-hour season 26 premiere of The Voice will air Monday, September 26 at 8 p.m. on NBC. It will be followed by the series premiere of the new medical drama Brilliant mindsstarring Zachary Quinto.
