West Ham v Man City – Premier League final leg as Pep Guardiola’s side look to remain unbeaten

Erling Haaland scored his second successive hat-trick as Manchester City extended their unbeaten start to the season with a 3-1 win at West Ham in the Premier League.

Pep Guardiola, who along with Jack Grealish had to do without the injured Savinho, saw his team dominate the first half.

And it took just ten minutes for City to open the scoring when they capitalised on a miscued pass from Emerson Palmieri, with Bernardo Silva passing the ball to Haaland who slotted home.

Kevin De Bruyne then hit the woodwork and Grealish went close as the one-way traffic continued. But against the run of play, the Hammers equalised when Jared Bowen’s cross was deflected into his own net by Ruben Dias.

But the visitors regained the lead ten minutes later when Haaland was given too much space in the penalty area and he touched the ball once before firing a fierce shot into the roof of the net.

Julen Lopetegui made a substitute appearance at half-time, with Lukas Fabianski replacing Alphonse Areola.

City continued to dominate, but the Hammers missed a great chance to equalise on the counter-attack when Bowen found Mohammed Kudus, his powerful shot from a difficult angle hitting the post.

But Pep Guardiola’s team secured victory when Matheus Nunes passed the ball to Haaland, who timed his run perfectly and lifted the ball over the keeper to complete his hat-trick, adding to his three goals against Ipswich Town last week.
