Weather forecasters monitor two disturbances in the Atlantic Ocean | Hurricane Center

According to the National Hurricane Center in Miami, hurricane experts are expecting two tropical storms in the Atlantic Ocean, after a relatively quiet August in the tropics.

Weather forecasters said Wednesday morning that a low-pressure area is producing showers and thunderstorms a few hundred miles southeast of Bermuda. The system has a 10 percent chance of developing into a tropical storm or depression within the next week, forecasters said. However, dry air and strong winds at higher elevations should limit further development over the next 24 hours as the disturbance moves north to north-northeastward at 10 mph.

Another disturbance was spotted in the Atlantic Ocean on Monday night. On Wednesday morning, meteorologists said that a low pressure area could form in the central tropical Atlantic within a few days. As it slowly moves west to west-northwestward, the system could develop this weekend or early next weekend. There is a 20% chance of it developing into a tropical storm or depression within the next week, but almost 0% chance of development in the next few days.
