Ridiculous claims are being made on social media about the earrings Kamala Harris wore during her debate with Donald Trump, leading to conspiracy theories.

Shortly after the debate between the two White House candidates ended on Tuesday, wild claims began circulating on X suggesting that Harris’ earrings might be a secret device, drawing comparisons to a similar earpiece mentioned in a tech paper.

“I think Kamala did a great job tonight in the debate against Trump, who I personally think is a great speaker and debater. But I was really intrigued by her earrings. Maybe because I was reminded of similar ones from a tech article about earphones that look like earrings,” one social media user said in a post on X. Without providing any evidence for his theory, another user wrote, “If you think Kamala looked a lot like Obama tonight… she probably did. CLOSED!”

‘Crazy things if it’s true’

Dozens of users came forward to support the wild claim. “Kamala was apparently wearing an earpiece. It’s not my photo, but someone found this to be a near match to a microphone that was previously inserted. If true, this is insane,” said one user. Some took the conspiracy even further, claiming, “The company went bankrupt. I assume these were prototypes, but it seems REALLY UNLIKELY that those earrings are related to that Kickstarter. I can guarantee there are more sneaky earrings out there.”

On Tuesday, Harris put her Republican rival Trump on the defensive in a combative presidential debate with a flurry of attacks on his fitness for office, his support for abortion restrictions and his myriad legal troubles. A former prosecutor, Harris, 59, dominated the debate from the start, repeatedly getting under her rival’s skin and goading Trump, 78, into an angry response.
