Video shows Wisconsin cyclist nearly hit by falling tree during severe weather

MILWAUKEE – Dramatic video captured the shocking moment a tree fell during storms in Wisconsin on Tuesday, narrowly missing a bicyclist riding on a Milwaukee road.

Severe weather has wreaked havoc across the Midwest and Great Lakes region for days, leaving hundreds of thousands of utility customers without power and people fleeing for safety after flash flooding at the Minnesota State Fair.

Powerful thunderstorms battered parts of Michigan on Tuesday, bringing hurricane-force winds and large hail. The storms also knocked down trees, including the one captured on video in Milwaukee.

The video, captured by Lorenzo Parker, shows the massive tree falling to the ground directly in the cyclist’s path on North 61st Street. On its way down, the tree also struck power lines, sending sparks flying through the air.

Parker’s video shows the cyclist hitting the tree, and a person with an umbrella rushing forward to help. The unidentified cyclist was able to get up and did not appear to be injured.
