Vic Fangio says Quinyon Mitchell will play the entire game against the Packers

It’s game week and after a summer of practices and plenty of learning along the way, Quinyon Mitchell is ready to make his debut against one of the most explosive passing games in the NFL.

During his weekly press conference, the Eagles defensive coordinator was asked about his team’s first-round pick and offered some insight into where Mitchell stands with four days to go. When asked about Mitchell’s readiness, Fangio indicated that the cornerback is playing well in the nickel but isn’t “where he needs to be.”

Even with that ruling, Mitchell is expected to play every snap Friday, whether at outside cornerback or nickel cornerback.

Mitchell became the first Toledo player selected in the first round of the NFL Draft since Dan Williams in 1993 (11th overall by Denver).

Mitchell played four seasons at Toledo, playing in 46 games (40 as a starter). Mitchell put up impressive numbers as a cornerback: 6 interceptions, 2 interceptions returned for touchdowns, 122 tackles, 46 passes defensed, and 6.5 tackles for loss. Mitchell led the FBS with 25 passes defensed in 2022 and finished his career with the most passes defensed in program history.

He will now be a starting player for Philadelphia in Week 1.
