Uchenna Nwosu, Artie Burns leave Seahawks Preseason Win with injuries

The Seahawks closed out their pre-season with a 37-33 win over the Cleveland Browns, but now they are still awaiting the injury status of several key defenders.

Outside linebacker Uchenna Nwosu exited the game in the first quarter—starters ran just one series—after a chop block, which resulted in a 15-yard penalty, resulted in a knee injury. Nwosu was treated on the field by athletic trainers and was then able to slowly jog off the field under his own power.

“Not sure yet,” Seahawks coach Mike Macdonald said when asked about Nwosu. “We’ll have it checked out tomorrow. We’ll probably know more in the next couple of days.”

According to Macdonald, the same was true for cornerback Artie Burns, who left the game in the first quarter with a foot injury.

The Seahawks are off Sunday and will resume practice Monday, so an update from Macdonald is likely to follow then.

Macdonald also said outside linebacker Dre’Mont Jones, who has been sidelined with a hamstring injury, could return to practice soon.

“It’s looking positive,” Macdonald said. “We’re optimistic about Dre’Mont. We’ll see how many reps he gets this week and how we ramp it up.”
