ISTANBUL, July 30 (BelTA -Anadolu) – The Turkish national volleyball team defeated the Netherlands 3-2 in the opening match of the Paris 2024 Olympic Games group stage on Monday.

Türkiye won the match in sets 19-25, 19-25, 25-22, 25-22, 15-13 at the South Paris Arena 1 in Pool C.

Melissa Vargas was the top scorer with 30 points, while Hande Baladin and Eda Erdem each scored 12.

Jolien Knollema and Nika Daalderop each scored 15 points for the losing team.

Turkey will play their second match against the Dominican Republic on Thursday.

Turkish archers beat Colombia to reach last 8 in Paris

The Turkish men’s national archery team, led by Mete Gazoz, the gold medalist at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, defeated Colombia 5-4 to qualify for the quarter-finals of Paris 2024.

On Monday, Turkey will play India in the men’s round of 16 at the Invalides tournament in Paris.

The Olympic Games will last until August 11.
