Former President Trump cited one of Vice President Kamala Harris’ most memorable quotes Tuesday night when he told her to “hold on” during a debate and said “I’m speaking now.”

“She’s given up at least 12 and probably 14 or 15 different policies, like she was a big proponent of defunding the police,” Trump said before it looked like Vice President Harris was trying to say something.

“Hold on, I’m talking now,” Trump shot back. “If you don’t mind, here you go. Does that sound familiar?”

Trump was referring to a debate moment between vice presidential candidates Harris and Mike Pence, when she told Pence, “I’m speaking” during a 2020 vice presidential debate when he tried to drown her out.

Critics of Harris at the time claimed the quote was an attempt to create a viral moment.

The Harris and Trump campaigns went back and forth in the weeks leading up to the debate over whether to mute the microphones for the candidate who wasn’t speaking during the debate. Ultimately, the decision was made to mute the microphones.

The moment was noted by conservatives on social media, including commentator Dana Loesch who commented on X, “Good joke.”

“She went to Minnesota and wanted to release criminals who were killing people and burning down Minneapolis,” Trump said immediately after he asked Harris to let him finish. “She went out and raised money to get them out of prison. She did things that no one would ever think of doing. Now she wants to perform transgender surgeries on illegal aliens who are in prison.”

Trump maintains his lead nationally and appears to be ignoring his enthusiasm for Democrats after Harris entered the race, recent polls show.

Trump won the support of 48% of likely voters, compared to 47% who said they supported Harris, according to the latest results of a New York Times/Siena poll released Sunday.
