Treasure Coast pile remains open after messages of support

HOBE SOUND, Fla. – A Treasure Coast staple will now keep its doors open after announcing last week that it would be closing after 72 years.

Harry and the Natives in Martin County said financial issues due to the COVID pandemic led to the initial decision to close.

However, the amount of support received over the past week has made owner Harry MacArthur reconsider.

MacArthur told WPTV’s Mello Styles on Thursday that customers were reaching out from far and wide, even as far away as Thailand. He confirmed the business will continue at its current location on Southeast Federal Highway and hopes the community will support them.

“We’re going to restructure and put in a new menu,” MacArthur said. “We are going to appoint a board of four or five people to review the matter because it is clear that I need to improve.”

He says he calls his customers and employees his friends and family and that he wants to remain open to them above all.
