Titans QB Will Levis (shoulder) questionable to return Monday night against the Dolphins

Will Levis’ extra effort to pick up a first down led to his exit in the first quarter on Monday night.

Levis suffered a shoulder injury and is questionable to return for the Tennessee Titans against the Miami Dolphins.

Mason Rudolph took over as Tennessee’s quarterback and headed in a field goal for a 3-0 Titans lead early in the second quarter. The former Steelers QB would help Tennessee to a 9-3 halftime advantage with two more drives that ended in field goals.

With just over six minutes to play in the first quarter, scrambling for the chains, Levis went airborne, dove headfirst and landed on his right shoulder. He came up short on the third run and was seen on the air thinking he hurt his shoulder. On the Titans’ ensuing offensive possession, Levis headed to the blue medical tent while Rudolph took over under center.

In his short time on Monday, Levis had completed 3 of 4 passes for 25 yards with an interception. It was Levis’ sixth INT of the season, which is tied for the most in the NFL.

Levis threw the ball down the sideline before Rudolph came into the game. One wonders how shaky Levis, who has won nine trophies this year, has been playing, combined with his injury, if head coach Brian Callahan doesn’t want to stick with Rudolph even though his starter could potentially return.

Asked at halftime by ESPN’s Laura Rutledge, Callahan said if Levis could play, he would.
