The Tampa Bay Buccaneers head to New Orleans on Tuesday, well before their Week 6 matchup against the host Saints, the NFL club announced.

NFL teams typically travel to road games a day or two before kickoff.

But with Hurricane Milton quickly moving toward Tampa, the Bucs opted to move their weekly game prep to New Orleans, where they will play the Saints on Sunday at 1 p.m.

Officials at Tampa International Airport announced that they will suspend “all commercial and cargo operations” at 9 a.m. Tuesday and that it will “remain closed to the public until it can assess any damage following the storm.”

Hurricane Milton has the potential to bring “catastrophic storm surge, high winds and heavy rain to Tampa Bay and the entire Gulf Coast of Florida,” according to a statement from the airport.

The state’s fourth-busiest airport “expects to reopen following a damage assessment that will begin as soon as it is safe to do so,” the statement continued.

Major airlines such as Alaska, American, Delta, Frontier, JetBlue, Southwest, Spirit, United and Virgin Atlantic operate flights from TPA.

Hillsborough County issued a mandatory evacuation today at 2:30 PM for Evacuation Zones A and B, for all mobile homes and manufactured homes. These residents must be in a safe location by 7 a.m. on Wednesday. Nine shelters will be opened in mandatory evacuation zones.

Sarasota County also called for evacuations today for people in Levels A and B (including barrier islands) and people in mobile or manufactured housing. Those living in Level C “should be prepared to evacuate if the storm intensifies.”

In the coastal town of Anna Maria, south of Tampa, a mandatory order begins at noon. Pinellas County has begun mandatory evacuations for long-term care facilities.
