Paris has waited exactly 100 years to host the Olympic Games. The anticipation is long gone, the years of preparation are over and after the opening ceremony (which was spectacular for some and exceeded the limits of taste for others) it seems that the host is still learning from its own mistakes.

Paris can certainly do better, despite the fact that it was revealed that it had spent almost nine billion euros on the organisation by the time the Games started.

Organization is the basis for many smaller competitions than the OI, and in the City of Light at least it was in the beginning: it failed.

That’s why some Montenegrin journalists were late for our boxer’s match Bojan Gojkovic on Saturday, because there was no transport from the central bus station, which is located right next to the press center, to the “Paris Nord Arena” where Budvanka fought.

The explanation as to why this was the case was somewhat comical:

– There is no transportation to that location today, maybe in the coming days – was the message from the friendly, not exactly prepared volunteers.

And that was it. Unfortunately, Bojana was knocked out in the first round, so going to the same arena was no longer an option, but the impression remained – and has been for five days now – that everything is far from ideal.

But everything is magical in one place: Roland Garros, where the Olympic tennis tournament is played. Such a complex, with so many courts and an incredible “Marquee” that attracts as much attention as the Parc des Princes of Saint Denis, should be visited by everyone who comes to Paris. He doesn’t even have to be a tennis fan, but he should know one thing: after visiting Roland Garros, he will look at everything related to tennis differently.

Yesterday’s day in the Boulogne forest, on the slopes of which the complex is located, was so special that it can hardly be repeated before the end of the Olympic tournament.

They stood opposite each other Rafael Nadal i Novak Djokovicthe Serbian tennis player won comfortably (6:1, 6:4) and reached the round of 8, but it was a match that meant more than just a game, because Rafa and Novak met each other for perhaps the last time, as the career of the legendary Spaniard was almost over.

Djokovic had no shortage of support in the “Chatrije”, but Nadal was and remains an icon in that stadium – he won Roland Garros no less than 14 times. From the stands he clearly knows how to appreciate that…

Maybe it was the last dance, maybe there will be a few more, but if this is the end for Nadal – at least he persevered in his home stadium, in front of his crowd and against one of the greatest rivals of his career.
