Syracuse vs. Stanford odds, line: Advanced computer college football model releases spread pick for Friday’s ACC game

The Stanford Cardinal will play their first ACC conference game when they take on the Syracuse Orange on Friday at the JMA Wireless Dome in Syracuse, N.Y. The Cardinal joined the conference this season after being a longtime member of the Pac-12. Both Stanford (1-1) and Syracuse (2-0) are coming off open weeks. Two weeks ago, the Cardinal defeated Cal Poly, while the Orange upset No. 23 Georgia Tech.

Kickoff is at 7:30 p.m. ET. The Orange are 9.5-point favorites in the latest Syracuse vs. Stanford odds, while the over/under for total points scored is 56.5. (See the current odds for every game this week on our college football odds page.)

Before you make a Stanford vs. Syracuse prediction or any college football prediction, you MUST check out the SportsLine Projection Model predictions.

The model simulates every FBS college football game 10,000 times. Since its inception, it has generated over $2,000 in profit for $100 players on its top-rated college football picks against the spread. It is also coming off a profitable 13-9 season on top-rated spread picks and is off to a 5-2 start this season on over/under picks. Anyone who has followed it has seen strong returns.

The model knows that Syracuse has one of the most productive passing attacks so far this season. Led by Ohio State transfer quarterback Kyle McCord, the Orange are averaging 367.5 passing yards per game, which ranks third in the country behind only Ole Miss and Miami. McCord ranks second in the country in total offense (372.0 yards per game).

But the model also takes into account that Stanford has done an excellent job of stopping the run this season. The Cardinal are giving up just 64.5 rushing yards per game, which leads the conference and ranks 12th in the nation. In Stanford’s win over Cal Poly, the defense gave up just 25 rushing yards on 20 carries.
