Suspect in Trump shooting in Palm Beach was ‘relatively calm’ during arrest

Martin County Sheriff William D. Snyder said his department’s officers have arrested a suspect in the shooting that killed former President Donald Trump in Palm Beach County on Sunday.

Snyder said Martin County deputies responded to a BOLO alert that shots had been fired into an SUV near the Trump International Golf Club in West Palm Beach.

“There was a lone driver in the vehicle. That driver is now in custody,” Snyder said, adding that he was “relatively calm” and “didn’t show a lot of emotion.”

Snyder said Florida Highway Patrol officers closed Interstate 95 northbound and a crash involving civilians occurred due to the suspect’s traffic stop. Snyder also said Martin County officers were working with the U.S. Secret Service, the FBI and the Palm Beach Sheriff’s Office.

“The FBI will impound that car, we will take it back to Palm Beach for them,” Snyder said.
