Living in city centers with little space to spend time outside and lots of space for cars isn’t ideal. But eliminating roads for cars to drive on isn’t ideal either. Superblocks, as Amanda Shendruk illustrates for the Washington Post , are an urban-planning compromise that gives priority to pedestrians in the center and cars around the perimeter.
