Super Bowl champion suggests Travis Kelce not fully focused on football after last quiet game

Travis Kelce had little impact on the Kansas City Chiefs’ offense during the team’s 22-17 win over the Atlanta Falcons on Sunday.

It took Kelce two full quarters to catch a pass. He finished with four catches on five targets for 30 yards, but he has failed to find the end zone in the first three games of the season.

Rodney Harrison, a two-time Super Bowl winner and current analyst for NBC, made a startling admission about Kelce.

“He’s busy, he’s busy,” Harrison said. “If you think about it, he’s doing a lot of different things in the media, he’s playing football, he’s got other things going on. There’s a lot going on. But when you’re in that situation, you’ve got to focus on everything, and you’ve got to focus 100 percent on football and that’s the most important responsibility.

“Guys that are making fun of him, you see, Jessie Bates did a great job tonight. He just doesn’t have the same speed. He’s still a good player. I don’t think he’s a great, great player.”

Kelce’s attitude on the sidelines raised concerns among Taylor Swift fans.

Patrick Mahomes noted that Kelce was seemingly absent from the game plan.

“The respect they have for Travis is just unreal,” he said of other teams. “It’s well-deserved, but we call a lot of plays for Travis, and it’s like two or three people go to him. So, I mean, he gets it. I think that’s the great thing about him, he wants to make an impact on the game, but he ultimately wants to win.

“I’m going to do my best to keep getting him the ball when he’s there, when he’s open. But I think the more Rashee (Rice) plays, the more we can run the ball, the more we can get (Xavier) Worthy involved, that’s going to open Travis up more. I mean, people are really stressing about taking him away and opening up other guys.”
